VDO Tacho Pick Up
Used on Jabiru engines to send an rpm pulse to the VDO tacho.
Mounted above the flywheel.

Symptoms shown by failing VDO oil pressure sensors.
Typical indication that the VDO sender is about to failed is a rapid fluctuation in the displayed pressure on the gauge, sometimes showing full scale deflection. Also typical is a lower than expected pressure reading.
Why do they fail?
VDO senders are considered to be high quality automotive components and are intended to measure oil pressure in an engine that does not fluctuate rapidly. However, in many aero engines, the sender is plumbed into a less than ideal part of the oil system where, at certain RPMs, it is subject to rapid pressure fluctuations. This wears the internal electrical contacts in one spot and results in premature failure.

360-003 VDO Oil Pressure Sender 80psi / 5 Bar
Genuine VDO, 0-5 Bar / 0-80 PSI sender with 1/8 NPT thread, suitable for all Jabiru 2200/3300 engines.
Sender is stamped with the number 29/4.
Single terminal for connection to VDO oil pressure guage. (or Stratomaster) The second terminal is not normally used on the non-genuine (copy part, marked ELO) sender supplied as original equipment on the Jabiru engine. But if you require it, see below. ST Aviation Services recommend that you replace ELO pressure senders with a VDO one (They say ELO senders can show a different pressure when warm)

VDO 5bar / 80 psi oil pressure sender. Twin terminal type suitable for the Jabiru 2200 and 3300 engine. (1/8 NPT thread)
Sender is stamped 30/23
Second terminal will switch a warning light if the pressure drops below 0.5 bar / 7.0 PSI. Earth is via the engine block.

10 Bar / 150 psi sender is suitable for Rotax engines. 1/8 NPT thread. This twin terminal sender uses the second terminal for the oil pressure warning lamp which will light if pressure drops below 11.4 psi. Ground is via the engine block.
